First Sin Gluttony

This is a picture ive been working on in class fro a while now. GLUTTONY Rawr! Mix of photo editing and a collage i think i works reasonably well and it gets my point across. Gluttony is the sin of overussage waste, in other words takeing more then you need to and then throwing it away. I think this picture represents that rather well with all the trash and pollution in the background. I wanted to use a sureal face eatting into the world to give a more monsterous look while retaining some humanish features to it.
The hands were the biggest problem with this picture, i couldnt find any hands that worked well with it so i instead took a picture of me holding a basketball then just photoshoped my hands around the ball. I also originally planned on createing a body with this picture but it just made the picture to crowded with too many things fighting for your attention so instead i just left it as hands and a head.

Week 4

I must say i liked the idea of editing photos, it allows people to take real things and put a surreal twist on them. I am planning on useing this for a couple of my Seven deadly sins pictures. Envy was one i was deffinately going us this style of photo art for but i am still debating whether i want to use it for any other.
Ive never been big on photography, although ive never really tried it out to much extent. I have of course used digital cameras before but never for any ary purposes. It was fun giving it a try in class this week but i cant say ive really warmed to it much. I prefer manipulating and creating pictures I imagine.

Week 3

This week we tried out mobile phone art. it is an interesting median but i personally dont think it has much potential for creativity. We connected our phones to the computers and created different pieces of art in adobe illustrator to use as the backgrounds of our phones. I created a sort of retro background consisting of games like space invaders and pacman. My idea is that it is a comment on how even though entertainment has evolved to much greater heights we still find enjoyment and entertainment in these old and dated games.

Ideas For Final Folio

I was thinking of doing a set of pictures based around religion in some way but i wasn't sure what, because religion has always been a great topic for art and some really fantastic pieces of artwork have been created from that topic.
I had been recently over the holidays been looking at Dantes Divine Comedy which is what sparked my interest in art and religion. Gustave Dore's pieces were amazing especially the ones out of Dantes Inferno, the just were amazing to look at. I had such feeling and detail behind every picture and really got my brain working. So i decided to take an idea from Dantes Inferno and do my final folio based around the 'Seven Deadly Sins' which make up part of the 9 rings of Hell in the poem.

Week 2

This week was Adobe Illustrator, and using text in Art work. I found Illustrator to be a lot like Photoshop. I have previously done a Photoshop course so I'm familiar with most the basics but i wouldn't consider myself to be very good at it. I had fun using the text tool and other tools in Illustrator and learned a few things about vector graphics. During my mucking around on there i wiped up a simple picture really quickly (Above), i think that it looks like a mix between an Atoms and balloons but i think it turned out ok.
I didn't like anything i came up with when i was using the text tool, i found it clumsy and that the things i came up with looked really clunky and didn't have much flow to it. Then again i just started with this median so maybe with a bit of practice i can come up with something that i think looks good.

Week 1

This week i went on the sites recommended and found some really bizarre but intriguing pieces of digital art. The site Rhizome opened my eyes to the what digital art can be. There are so many different ways to create digital art and so many things to create. One piece in particular that i found really interesting was a 3D interactive environment. The piece itself is called "Analog Environments" and is by Mitch Trale, it can be found here .

Seeing this Artwork really opened my eyes to the capability and potential of digital art. You can create virtually anything you want with it from unbelievably complicated sketches to complete Worlds of you imagination.

On the other hand I found some pieces that really came across as incredibly simple and had no thought and imagination put into it, but such is art, it is all a matter of perspective.
